Blacktopp Moor contains humic acid - a substance with an extremely complex chemical composition. An antioxidant, humic acid has been shown to penetrate the human skin, is easily absorbed and works at the cellular level to reduce inflammation, provide molecular nutrients and reactivate healthy skin cell production.
The challenges of studying humic acids have been to understand the action of the substances involved. Good progress is now being made, and published studies reported in the scientific literature are validating the effectiveness of humic substances as has been suspected for centuries. Humic substances have been shown (1) to inhibit oxidization of cell membranes. The penetration of humic substances through the epidermis has been proven (2).
